The seminar provides training in research in Oceania (Australia, Melanesia, Micronesia and Polynesia) and is a forum for presenting and disseminating research in progress. It combines anthropology with other humanities and social sciences disciplines such as history, the sociology of politics, linguistics, geography and ethnoarchaeology.
Given the contexts of cultural exchange and economic and political confrontation in which the peoples of Oceania find themselves, the seminar themes are approached from both a diachronic and a regional perspective. The speakers are members of the CREDO as well as French and international guests from research centres and universities across Europe, North America, Australia and the Pacific.
