The Centre de recherche et de documentation sur l'Oc\u00e9anie (CREDO, UMR 7308) was set up in January 1995 as a Joint Research Unit (UMR) of the French Ministry of Research. CNRS<\/a><\/span> andEHESS<\/a><\/span>.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t

From its very first year, the researchers of CREDO<\/strong> researchers wanted to form a partnership with the University of Provence, now known as Aix-Marseille University<\/a><\/span><\/strong>) to provide teaching as part of the bachelor's\/master's and postgraduate courses in the Anthropology department.<\/p>

To make this association with the University of Provence effective, it was proposed to transform the bipartite UMR into a tripartite UMR, which came into effect on 1 January 1996.<\/p>

\u00a0<\/p>

In March 1999, CREDO<\/strong> has left its temporary premises at the EHESS (Vieille Charit\u00e9) to move to the Saint-Charles campus<\/strong><\/a><\/span> University of Provence (Aix-Marseille University since 2012).<\/p>

Alongside,IrAsia<\/a> (UMR 7306) and a UAR (Support and Research Unit) dedicated to the documentation and promotion of research via the audiovisual service, la Maison Asie-Pacifique<\/strong> <\/span><\/a>(UAR MAP), CREDO<\/strong> is one of the three components of the Maison Asie-Pacifique.<\/p>

\u00a0<\/p>

The research<\/span><\/a> <\/strong>of CREDO<\/strong> focuses contemporary developments in the societies of Australia, Melanesia, Micronesia and Polynesia and their relations with the Austronesian world.<\/p>

The research is predominantly anthropological, but also includes contributions from archaeology, history, linguistics, political science, museology, ethnomusicology and multimedia.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t
